How to Identify Yours and Stop the Procrastination

Have you been shopping around the internet for a number of years, looking at various home business options you want to use for yourself? Have you darted from site to site, logging information, parking it, finding another site, clocking the info, parking it and then starting the process all over again? If that is you, how can you stop? When is the time to see the home business roadblocks - identify yours and stop the procrastination?

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself what it is that is preventing you from making the jump into buying or starting your own homebased or internet business? You cannot reach a conclusion if you are forever looking but never making a decision. If you want a change you have to make a change.

In thinking about starting up a home business, I have identified four roadblocks that often prevent people from taking the first step into creating a new future:

1) WHY are you are looking for a home internet business?. What is it that you are lacking in your life that makes you want to keep looking for something else?

2) WHAT is the hold up? Write down why, having searched and searched, you still have not reached the decisive moment of actually jumping in feet first and making a commitment.

3) WHO is stopping you? Identify the fear. It is surprising to note that the number one reason people do not take an initial step is through fear - fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of getting out of their depth, etc. Write down what your major fear is and face it. Ask yourself what your life will look like if you do take that step into the unknown, then ask yourself what your life will look like if you don't.

4) WHEN will you commit? Is the delay through lack of finances? Most new business enterprises involve monetary transactions of some sort. Although there are some that are free to join (like Betterware), the commission payout is usually pegged and almost entirely dependent on the local consumer. Even joining a worldwide business like Avon involves payment of a small fee. It is questionable whether any business is really going to mean a lot to you if you do not invest something from your own resources. In my experience of bringing up children, the forking out of their own hard earned money brings a sense of ownership and pride that no gift ever can. It has constantly surprised me to see how well looked after the bought possession is compared to the gift.

What am I saying? Although the recession has brought with it a different financial climate, it is well worth thinking through whether taking a small risk (financial or otherwise) will benefit you long term. Begin to identify the roadbloacks preventing your from moving forward. Clarify the benefits of owning your own business and make a decisive first step.
